Life of Faithful Service

With profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude, we declare on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, the last bell sounded in the classroom of life and our esteemed Pastor Lonnie B. Thomas, responded to the voice of the Master saying, Come unto Me and Rest. Pastor Lonnie B. Thomas was a devoted witness of the Gospel, serving as the pastor of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Knoxville, Al. A distinguished musician, he mentored numerous individuals, imparting his musical expertise during his tenure. His exceptional character earned him universal admiration and respect. As an educator, he demonstrated remarkable leadership and a genuine passion for teaching children in the classroom.

Compassionate Service

Pastor Thomas faithfully served with Mrs. Emma C. Williams and the staff of Williams Service Funeral Home, Inc., offering comfort to families who entrusted their loved ones' final care. Demonstrating a servant's heart, he would often step in to provide music at funeral services when needed, ensuring each celebration was accompanied by soothing melodies.

A Lasting Legacy

His selfless actions touched the lives of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Now at peace with the Lord, we take solace in the promise of eternal life and his presence with God. "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." – Matthew 5:4

As expressed by Pastor Lonnie B. Thomas, "May the God of all solace and serenity accompany you through this trying period. May the Lord grant you resilience to persevere in light of such a profound loss."

Visitation and Homegoing Celebrations

A visitation for Pastor Thomas will take place in the Main Chapel of Williams Service Funeral Home from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025. The Homegoing Celebration service will be held at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1317 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Northport, AL 35476, on Saturday, September 27,2025 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Gregory L. Morris serving as officiant.

Our Beloved will be laid to rest in Oakridge Cemetery, Northport, Alabama
